Pundit explains why Everton are looking poor under Allardyce

Tony Cascarino believes that Everton are looking poor under Sam Allardyce.

The Toffees suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat against Arsenal last weekend and are currently on a poor run of form, having won just one of their past nine games in the Premier League.

Big Sam took over the club in November after they started the season in disappointing fashion and looked as though they could be relegated this season.

The veteran tactician however oversaw an immediate improvement as the club went on to bag ten points in four games.

However performances have steadily been on the decline and this culminated during the clubs thrashing last weekend.

Cascarino said: “Sam Allardyce has to take huge responsibility for Everton and the way they played against Arsenal.

“Last year, when they went three or five at the back, they were basically awful, so I cannot understand why Allardyce would use that system. Ashley Williams cannot play in a three —it’s as simple as that.

“Sam was very critical of how they played, but in every interview he always talks about how they defended. It is always about whether they kept clean sheets, not how many chances they created or anything like that.

“But, if he is worried about defending, then they defended terribly at the Emirates on Saturday. Arsenal, who played very well, were able to walk all over them. It was much too easy.”
