Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly plotted a shock swap deal

Reliable Journalist David Ornstein has claimed that Tottenham and Chelsea attempted a swap deal involving Michy Batshuayi and Fernando Llorente but added that it fell through.

Batshuayi is believed to have turned down the move as he does not want to go from being a back-up striker from one club to another.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte attempted to sign Llorente last summer to provide back-up and competition for Alvaro Morata though he ended up losing the battle to Spurs who signed the veteran Spaniard from Swansea.

Conte does not have faith in Batshuayi as evidenced by the fact that he looked to find a new striker this month and it appears that Spurs took interest in the Belgians situation.

Had the deal gone ahead, it could have prevented Arsenal from signing Pierre-EmerickAubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.

However it will not go ahead. Meanwhile Spurs are closing in on signing Lucas Moura while Chelsea are also closing in on Olivier Giroud.
