The Daily Express have reported that Aston Villa have brought the talented Cambridge City Under-15 goalkeeper Filip Marschall.

Marschall is considered as one of the most promising young prospects in English football already at the age of 15 after encouraging performances with Cambridge’s youth squad.

Cambridge vice-chairman Terry Dunn has praised the teenager after the completion of the transfer saying, “It’s great for Filip and everyone involved at Cambridge City that one of our youngsters has made the move to a professional club.

“It also underlines how strong our youth structure is, and reward for the work that has gone into rebuilding this aspect of the club in recent years. He is clearly a great talent and everyone throughout the club wishes him well.”

Marschall’s former coach, Dallas Lawrence, also hailed the youngster, saying he has already shown great professionalism and work ethic despite his young age.

He said, “Filip is a superb young person who has been an absolute joy to coach and works with over the last 3 years.”

“He always arrives for training and games with the right attitude and willingness to learn and to push his own ability. This is a great reward for him.”

The Lions are restricted by Financial Fair Play regulations, which disabling them to invest money during the January transfer window. Nonetheless, they are trying to bolster the squad ahead of the second half of the season.

However, manager Steve Bruce is making smart moves, investing for the future. Villa have already brought Manchester United sensation Axel Tuanzebe on loan until the end of the season, which clearly shows club’s intention to focus on young prospects.
