According to Dutch Publication De Telegraaf, Leeds United’s search for a right-back has seen them register a late winter transfer interest in Utrecht’s Giovanni Troupée.
Serie A sides Benevento, Sampdoria and Hellas Verona are also keen on the 19-year-old who is available on loan till the end of the campaign, with the Whites needing to be persuasive at the negotiations table to have a chance.
With Luke Ayling ruled out of the rest of the season following the ankle injury he picked up in the 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day, an urgent need for another right-back has come up
Troupée broke into Utrecht’s first team picture last season, but has struggled for regular playing minutes this term.
The Eredivisie outfit are willing to let him leave on loan in order to gain more experience, and he could join the ongoing battle for the right-back starting berth at Elland Road.
Troupee is highly valued by his club and they believe the Netherlands youth international can become a future star going forward.
It will come as a surprise if he usurps Gaetano Berardi at Elland Road if he arrives, but the talented youngster could be a great cover.
