Aston Villa loanee reportedly returns from Australian spell

According to the Daily Express, Ross McCormack has returned to Aston Villa after the loan spell with A-League side Melbourne City.

The 31-year-old striker has had a spectacular first half of the season in Australia, scoring fourteen goals in 17 appearances.

However, the Lions have been reluctant to extend his loan, despite both, the player and Melbourne have insisted on prolonging the deal.

Steve Bruce doesn’t count on the former Leeds United striker, preferring to sell him, as he needs money to complete the signing of Leicester City’s Leonardo Ulloa.

McCormack is a powerful forward with lethal finishing, and a couple of Championship sides are interested in his services, including his former club, Leeds.

Thomas Christiansen is looking for a quality striker after poor performances from Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Jay-Roy Grot.

However, the latest reports suggest some MLS clubs are interested in signing McCormack, whose future seems far away from Villa Park.
