According to HITC Sport, West Ham United have expressed interest in signing wantaway Rubin Kazan striker Ruben Rochina before the January transfer window closes.

Like former teammate Yann M’Vila, the 26-year-old is set to become a free agent as he petitions FIFA to terminate his contract with the Russian outfit having been unpaid for months.

The Hammers are in need of attacking reinforcements with the trio of Javier Hernandez, Diafra Sakho and Andre Ayew linked with possible January exits, while the trio of Andy Carroll, Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic are out injured.

Rochina has English football experience having once played for Blackburn Rovers, and it’s why Fulham are also keen. La Liga outfit Girona are also after the 26-year-old who was once on the books of Barcelona.

The former Spain international can play on the wings and as a centre forward, and could put his versatility to good use at the London Stadium.

Rochina is clearly not a starting XI player, but he could be a good and reliable option off the bench and also in terms of being a decent backup.
