Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich recently joined Eredivisie side FC Utrecht on a 6-month loan deal until the end of the 2017-18 campaign, but fans might have already seen the last of the Poland international at Elland Road.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer Phil Hay, the Whites would likely allow the former FC Twente midfielder leave permanently by summer despite only signing him on a 3-year deal last June.
Despite his reputation as a goalscoring central midfielder following 26 career league goals till date, Klich struggled to convince manager Thomas Christiansen.
The 27-year-old started just a league game, came off the bench thrice and played 6 other games across all competitions.
Adapting to English football proved too much an ask for Klich despite his huge Eredivisie experience, and given the current quality within the midfield ranks at Elland Road, a return doesn’t seem to be on the cards, especially if Leeds find themselves in the Premier League next season.
