West Ham have reportedly agreed deal for £40million star

Sky Sports Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, has claimed that West Ham have agreed terms with Inter Milan to sign Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario.

Inter signed Mario for £40 million from Sporting Lisbon in 2016 but he has since been unable to become a first team regular within the side, having gone on to make just 15 first team appearances in all competitions and supplying five assists.

It is understood that the East London club will fork out £2.2 million in wages to the player as well as a further £350,000 to his agent.

Hammers co-owner David Sullivan does not want to fork out the £1.3 million loan fee which has been proposed by Inter and instead the Hammers are looking at a free loan with a view to making the deal permanent for £26 million during the summer.

Mario is looking to play as regularly as possible during the second half of the season in order to win selection to the Portugal squad which will play at the 2018 world cup
