Sunderland reportedly set to compete with Rangers for midfielder

According to a report published by the Chronicle, Sunderland are set to compete with Rangers in the race to sign Bournemouth midfielder Emerson Hyndman on loan.

The 22-year-old had been hoping to break into the Cherries first team this season but that has not been the case as he has only featured in Cup games.

It is unlikely that the American will receive any regular game time during the second half of the season and Eddie Howe is likely to allow him to leave the club on loan for the second half of the season.

Sunderland could be an ideal destination for Hyndman to get more experience considering that they are struggling to avoid relegation and will likely give him regular game time.

However Rangers are also in the mix. Hyndman will have good memories of the Rangers having played their last season and his performances were good enough for him to win the Young Player of the Season award despite the fact that he was only there for the second half of the season.
