New Stoke City chief of staff Paul Lambert has stressed his desire to keep the first-choice goalkeeper Jack Butland according to the Daily Express. Some recent reports have announced Liverpool could try to sign the former Birmingham City player, whose valuation is around £40 million.
Jurgen Klopp is looking to improve Liverpool’s defense, and a new goalkeeper is one of his priorities.
Roma stopper Alisson Becker has also been named as one of the potential Reds’ targets, but he has lately denied the possibility of leaving Stadio Olimpico in January.
Now, the recently appointed Stoke manager, Paul Lambert wants to retain Butland, as the Potters are facing the relegation battle. During the last interview, he said:
“There is absolutely no way he is going in January,”
“Absolutely no chance.
“As long as I’m here I’ll do everything I can to keep him.”
Additionally, the German expert has also stated that he looks to rely on Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius until the end of the current campaign.
As things stand, Liverpool will only go for a new goalie in the summer.
