Rangers reportedly keen to complete deal for top target over the weekend

According to Daily Record, Rangers will attempt to seal a deal for Hamilton midfielder Greg Docherty before the start of the new week.

The Light Blues had a £300,000 bid for the 21-year-old knocked back days ago, with the Accies holding out for £600,000.

There are several interests from the English Premier League and Championship for Docherty, but Rangers are favorites to land his signature, while the player himself is also keen on a move to Ibrox.

Manager Graeme Murty is serious about reinforcing his squad in order to strongly challenge Aberdeen for the runners-up spot.

4 loan deals have already been completed, and while that should make spending easier this window with the transfer kitty still untouched, it’s unknown if Rangers want to spend double of their valuation of the Scotland International.

Docherty, though, is worth Hamilton’s asking price given that Rangers could end up cashing in on him for ten times of that in the near future.

Apart from being capable of improving their squad, the youngster has the potential to further attract the big teams from England going forward, and Rangers won’t be able to keep hold of him should a juicy offer come.
