According to Daily Record, Scotland youth international striker and former Rangers target and trialist Matthew Knox is set to sign for Sunderland after impressing during a trial spell.
The 18-year-old is already a first team player for Livingston, and is rated as one of Scottish football’s most promising young talents, having had trials with the Light Blues, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton and Nottingham Forest.
As reported back in May 2016, Rangers tabled a £75,000 bid for Knox, but Livingston wanted double the fees.
While Rangers are not lacking in quality top talents as far as youngsters go, landing Knox, who is already a first team player with 19 appearances for the Scottish Championship outfit, would have been a massive boost.
Signing the teenager for £150,000 at the time or even returning with a better bid in the past transfer windows would have been a better move for Rangers.
Knox has the potential to turn into a prolific hitman going forward, and the Ibrox outfit might rue missing out on him in the near future.
