European Championship-winning creative genius reportedly keen on January West Ham move

According to Italian broadcaster Premium Sport (via inside Futbol), Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario is giving serious thought to joining West Ham on loan till the end of the season.

The 24-year-old Portugal international, who arrived for £40million from Sporting Lisbon 2 summers ago, is growing increasingly frustrated by his lack of regular playing minutes at San Siro.

With 5 months left to the World Cup, he is open to leaving in search of frequent first-team action.

West Ham want and need a creative attacking midfielder this window, and Mario ticks all the boxes.

The Portuguese played a huge role as his country won the European Championship in 2016, and definitely has the quality to improve an Hammers midfield lacking a top creative genius.

Mario’s dribbling, passing and expertise on set pieces are features that would help add verve to West Ham’s attack, and he could help them push for a top 8 finish if a deal can be gotten over the line.
