Celtic lost out when this player left for England says Sutton

Celtic vs Hearts

Chris Sutton has suggested that Celtic lost out when Charlie Mulgrew left the club in 2016 to join Blackburn Rovers.

The 31-year-old Mulgrew has established himself as a key player for Rovers who are currently pushing for promotion from League One to the Championship.

During his six year spell with the Hoops from 2010-2016, Mulgrew proved to be a handy goal scoring defender.

He went on to make 208 appearances for the Hoops, scoring 29 goals and winning five Scottish Premiership titles.

Sutton has suggested that he has been impressed by the way that Mulgrew has been playing for Rovers this season and feels that Brendan Rodgers may have made a wrong decision in allowing him to leave the club.

“Brilliant results for Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers today. Maddison is a player and so is Charlie Mulgrew Blackburn’s gain was maybe Celtics loss with Mulgrew,” said Sutton on his personal Twitter account on Saturday.
