Everton manager Allardyce admits he is looking to offload players

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that it is important that his team trims their squad this month before they can focus on bringing in more signings.

The Toffees have so far offloaded Kevin Mirallas and Ross Barkley this month to Olympiacos and Chelsea respectively.

After struggling in attack during the first half of the season, the Merseyside club has brought in Cenk Tosun from Besiktas in a £27 million deal in order to bolster their frontline and they are also reportedly in talks with Arsenal to sign Theo Walcott.

Other Toffees fringe players have been tipped to leave the club this month and Allardyce has emphasized that his club must let go of players in order to make additions.

“There is a big squad and moving players out is essential to bringing more players in,” he told reporters. “It is essential we trim down the squad if we are to bring in players and adjust the balance of the squad and adjust the numbers.

“There are a number of players who are not satisfied at the position they are in at the moment – it’s only natural to say that when they are not getting a regular game or even getting on the bench.

“We’d be open to some negotiations for some of our players – we’ve had a number of enquiries from other clubs but none have hit what our valuation might be.”
