West Ham reportedly receive boost in hopes of signing Russian target

West Ham have received a transfer boost after their target Fedor Smolov has played down links between him and Turkish club Besiktas.

It was recently claimed by Turkish media outlets that Smolov preferred a move to the Turkish giants but his agent and the hierarchy of his current club would not allow it.

However Krasnodar have denied that those comments were made by the 27-year old and it seems as though a move to Besiktas is not certain.

This will give West Ham renewed hope of signing the player this month. Smolov has been in good form in the Russian Premier League this season and has gone on to score 10 goals from 13 appearances.

Since joining Krasnodar during the summer of 2015, Smolov has scored 59 goals from 90 matches and his stats do suggest that he could be what David Moyes needs to strengthen his attack this month.
