Ex-West Ham boss Slaven Bilic reportedly set for shock appointment

According to reports, the Australian national team is eyeing former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic as the man to lead them during the 2018 World Cup.

The Croatian boss has been without a job since he was sacked by the Hammers in early November after the team fell to a 4-1 defeat against Liverpool.

He has since been linked with a return to management with Premier League sides as well as with the USA men’s national team.

With the world cup just months, away Bilic could be tempted to take the Australia job. He does have previous international experience having led the Croatian national team between 2006 and 2012.

David Gallop who is chief executive of Australia Football has reportedly held multiple conversations with Bilic’s representatives over a move down under.

The FFA have claimed that they will not make an appointment till mid-February with RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick and former Torino boss Gianni Di Biasi also being considered.
