According to the Daily Mail, Philippe Coutinho’s £142million move to Barcelona appears to have had a ripple effect on Ben Woodburn’s planned loan switch to Sunderland.
With the Brazilian gone and Mohamed Salah injured, manager Jurgen Klopp has put the Welsh forward’s imminent temporary exit on hold.
Sunderland want Woodburn, 18, till the end of the campaign as manager Chris Coleman looks to lead them to safety, and while a deal has all but been reached, the need for attacking depth all of a sudden has seen Klopp still holding on to the teenager.
The youngster’s last and only game for the senior team this term came in September, and Liverpool want him to further his development at a side offering regular football.
It remains to be seen if another attacker will arrive in the coming days at Anfield, hence, the club might have to wait until then and when Salah returns to full fitness before finally sanctioning the Sunderland loan deal for Woodburn.
