West Ham reportedly to hand trial to troubled defender

West Ham are reportedly ready to offer former QPR and Tottenham player Steven Caulker a trial to allow him to potentially reignite his career.

Caulker has been without a club since December after his contract with QPR was terminated by mutual consent.

Caulker is a defender of high quality and at 26-years of age, his best years are not as yet past him so he could carry on performing at the highest level for many years to him.

His career however currently hangs in the balance after a difficult past few years.

He is currently available to talk to other clubs and along with the Hammers, Championship clubs Leeds and Sunderland are also interested.

He also played for Liverpool for a short period after joining the club on loan in January 2016 from QPR and he went on to play four games for the club in all competitions.
