Spanish website Diario Gol has claimed that Barcelona are working on a potential deal to sign Tottenham star Dele Alli as Lionel Messi is a huge admirer of the youngster.
Alli has undergone a meteoric rise after joining Spurs from MK Dons in 2015 and has established himself as one of the world’s best rated young footballers after winning the PFA Young Player of the year award during the past two consecutive seasons.
Despite Alli churning out positive displays, Tottenham have not come close to winning any major trophies and last won a Cup in 2008 when they claimed the League Cup.
Should this continue, Alli will be tempted to leave especially to a club like Barcelona who win major silverware on a regular basis.
Ernesto Valverde’s team are currently the favourites to win the La Liga title this season and have a nine point lead over second placed Atletico Madrid while they are also in the hunt for the Copa del Rey and Champions League.
