Tottenham handed boost in hopes of signing target following agent’s admission

Tottenham target Nicolas Gaitan will undoubtedly leave Atletico Madrid during the January transfer window according to his agent.

The midfielder is currently struggling for regular game time with Atleti and is keen to play more regularly ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Tottenham and Manchester United were both linked with the player in January 2017 and with the North London club currently not in the best off form domestically, they could be tempted to swoop for him.

Gaitains’s agent Jose Irbarren has revealed that there are clubs from England who are interested in signing the midfielder and he also added that a January move is on the cards.

“I can tell you English clubs are interested,” Iribarren told Foot Mercato.

“Yes, he’ll undoubtedly leave Atletico in January. He has a lot of concrete offers. Nicolas was an important player when he played in Argentina, at Benfica and with the national team.

“He can’t continue in these conditions. If he can’t play a string of matches, nor win the coach’s trust. A player wants to play. We’re going to see with Atletico which solution we can find.”
