Newcastle United legend slams Tottenham star for this reason

Alan Shearer has slammed Dele Alli following Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat against Manchester City during the weekend.

Alli’s woes continued as he was less than impressive during the game as his side were comprehensively outplayed by the runaway Premier League leaders.

The reigning PFA Young Player of the year was poor in midfield and Shearer described him as “another young English player falling short of the hype” while adding, “On Saturday at the Etihad, when he really needed to step up, he let his team down and should have been sent off”.

He was referring to Alli’s nasty stamp on Kevin de Bruyne which could have well been a red on another day.

The defeat leaves Mauricio Pochettino’s team in seventh place on the standings and they are already out of the title race this season.

In addition to this, they are currently languishing in seventh position on the League standings and could face a tough battle just to finish in the top four this season.
