Arsenal have joined in on the race for the signature of Southampton star Virgil Van Dijk and the Gunners will have to fight with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the commanding center-back, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.
Van Dijk is one of the most wanted defenders in the Premier League currently as a host of top teams from within England and across Europe are chasing the Dutchman.
Although there has been reported interest from many top clubs from across Europe, the most prominent teams weighing up a move for the ball-playing defender are believed to be Liverpool and Manchester City.
While both the aforementioned teams have been in the running for the defender for a very long time, the huge asking price of £70million was believed to be a massive turn off for Van Dijk’s suitors.
However, this delay might prove to be costly for City and the Reds as Arsenal have now recently joined in the race for Van Dijk and the Gunners are reportedly prepared to pay the whole of Southampton’s asking price to improve their backline by adding the defender to their squad.
