Former Liverpool midfielder Dieter Hamann has valued injury prone striker Daniel Sturridge at a measly £8 million.
Injury problems coupled with a loss of form means that Sturridge has been relegated to the bench in recent seasons and as a result, his future at Anfield is under scrutiny in recent weeks.
Now ex-Liverpool midfielder Dieter Hamann has surprisingly urged Liverpool to sell injury prone striker – with the German suggesting that the England international was worth only £8 million.
While queried about his opinion regarding Sturridge’s situation on twitter, Hamann suggested that the Reds should have sold Sturridge years ago while he still had a high selling price.
Hamann tweeted: “I would have sold him a long time ago. Club is asking for too much money, a player who plays 20% of the games is worth 20% of his true value so I’d let him go for £8m probably. He’s cost us more than that by not playing “
This circumstance surrounding Sturridge has divided the opinion within the Liverpool fans, with one section of supporters wanting the striker to stay with the club while the other hoping that the Reds can cash in on the striker.
