Rangers blow as 50-goal English striker target agrees deal with another club

Rangers have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Motherwell star striker Louis Moult, as the hitman has signed a pre-contract with English Championship side Preston North End.

The Ibrox outfit were hopeful of landing the 25-year-old in January or next summer after ‘Well refused to let him go during the last transfer window.

However, Moult will now link up with former Hamilton boss Alex Neil, with the lure to return home too much for the Sunderland youth product to turn down.

Rangers would have been boosted by the goals of the striker who has banged 50 goals for Motherwell since arriving 2 seasons ago, scoring 14 goals thus far this term after scoring 18 each in the last 2.

The Light Blues currently have Kenny Miller and Alfredo Morelos as their striking options, but still need a lethal, proven and consistent finisher like Moult if they are to keenly challenge for silverware.

With the English striker no longer available, Rangers will have to beam their searchlight elsewhere for a top goalscorer.
