Gerrard wishes 92-La Liga-goal was leading Liverpool’s attack – could Reds swoop-in?

Luis Suarez

Liverpool currently boast of the best attacking force in the Premier League, with the trio to Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah racking up 22 goals between themselves thus far.

However, Reds legend Steven Gerrard was in reminiscent mood ahead of last weekend’s Merseyside derby as he claimed he would have loved to see former striker Luis Suarez lead the line against Everton.

In his words: “He’s a top-class player and I wish he was leading the line for us at the weekend – but I’d still settle for Firmino, Mane and Salah.”

Although the Uruguayan is currently having a below-par season at Barcelona, Suarez is still widely regarded as one the best finishers in the game having scored 92 league goals in 109 games since arriving Camp Nou in 2014.

Suarez has often claimed returning to Liverpool can’t be ruled out for him, and one can only wonder how lethal manager Jurgen Klopp’s attack will turn out with a natural striker of his quality.

The 29-year-old scored 69 league goals in three and half seasons at Anfield, bagging 31 in his last season as Liverpool came within inches of their first title since 1990.

Despite the quality they boast of in the final third, the Reds will gladly grab a chance to have a lethal out-and-out striker, and it can only be wondered if a swoop will be made on a Suarez-esque type of signing anytime soon.
