Former Rangers star Kevin Thompson has drawn comparisons between Ibrox flavour of the month Ross McCrorie and Celtic captain Scott Brown after McCrorie’s performance for the Gers against Aberdeen.
McCorie started both games as a deep-lying midfielder and put in good performances as the Gers claimed back to back victories against the Pittodrie side.
Since breaking into the Rangers first team in September, McCorie has proven to be a revelation and could have a bright future ahead of him.
Thompson is one who has been excited by the performances of McCrorie, who he believes can one day fill in the boots of Scott Brown for the Scotland national team.
“Young Ross McCrorie was exceptional (against Aberdeen).” Thomson said, as quoted by The Scotsman.
“He’s a really good asset to have for club and country – he could potentially be that centre-half who can also play in the middle of the pitch as an extra midfielder.
“Apart from Scott Brown, Scotland does not have a defensive midfielder that has that nasty streak and likes to put their foot in and plays behind he ball.
“The next step for any manager coming in is to get that sort of performance consistently.”
