Michael Owen has predicted that Tottenham will win their Premier League game against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs have been struggling by their standards recently and are already virtually out of the Premier League title race as they trail runaway leaders Manchester City by 18 points already.
They are also four points adrift of the Champions League qualification places and qualifying for Europe’s Premier club competition should now be the North London’s side’s aim for this season.
Owen has warned Mauricio Pochettino’s side that if they want to challenge for a place in the top four this season, they need to badly win against Stoke.
“Spurs have disappointed in the PL so far this term and they badly need to get back to winning ways if they are to mount a top four challenge,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Indeed Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently nearer the bottom of the table (16 points) to the top of the table (18 points) which is something of a surprise given their excellent league record in the last couple of years.
“Premier League history will be made at Wembley if the hosts beat Stoke by four or more goals given Spurs have won the last three PL games between the sides 4-0.
“No side has ever beaten another opponent by four or more goals in four successive PL games but a return to winning ways in the league is far more important for the north London outfit.”
