West Ham’s January transfer plans appear to have been dealt a huge blow following recent comments from Krasnodar striker Fyodor Smolov.
The £15million-rated Russian striker is top on the Hammers’ wishlist when the window opens next month, but the Real Madrid-target has doubts if the east Londoner’s style of play will suit his.
Smolov told Sport-Express: “I’m thinking about the West Ham proposal. Just a lot of nuances. The English Premier League is the most intensive, complex, and West Ham is at the bottom of the table.
“I watched their game against Manchester City…the whole team defends. It’s probably not my style.”
The Hammers really need a quality striking addition by January, as their lack of goals could see them lose their relegation battle.
With 58 goals in 90 games for Krasnodar since arriving in 2015, and 11 in 28 appearances for country, the 27-year-old seems like an option that can tick all the boxes for West Ham.
However, he is clearly not impressed with their position on the table, and he even thinks their style won’t be able to help him help them.
David Moyes’ side have already tabled 2 bids for Smolov, but with Madrid also said to be keen, their chances are very slim.
