West Ham defender Pablo Zabaleta had a special message for fans of Manchester City as he made his return to the Etihad Stadium to play against his former club on Sunday.
Before heading back to London, Zabaleta said: “It was really good, really nice to be back in front of the City fans. I have seen the lads, the staff and everyone.
“Of course I was a little upset because I thought we did great and were so close to getting at least one point. We showed much better discipline as a team and now we need to move on.”
The Argentina international bade an emotional farewell to City at the end of last season following a largely successful nine year spell with the club. He decided to remain in the Premier League and joined West Ham ahead of this season.
The struggling Hammers nearly got something from the game as they took a first half lead through Angelo Ogbonna.
However, City drew equal during the second half through a goal form Nicolas Otamendi before a late strike from David Silva won them the game.
