Tony Cottee urges Everton to appoint this man to save them from relegation

Tony Cottee has said that Everton need to be careful in who they appoint as their next manager as if they appoint the wrong person, they could be in serious relegation trouble.

The Toffees have been without a manager for the past six weeks since they parted ways with Ronald Koeman.

They have been in charge on an interim basis by David Unsworth since and their results have not shown much of an improvement.

Cottee appears to be backing Sam Allardyce to succeed Koeman. The former England national team boss has built a reputation over the years for helping clubs avoid relegation and this could make him an ideal candidate.

Cottee said: “I think what Sam would do is he’d go into the club, he will make his feelings clear, he will lay the law down, he will get them organised, he will make them sound defensively, they will be hard to beat, they’ll grind away, they’ll get results but ultimately they will stay in the Premier League.

“That’s what Everton have got to look at, because they are on such a downward spiral at the moment. If they make the wrong choice, then they can quite easily go down this year.”
