Leeds United have been handed a huge boost ahead of the January transfer window, as Liverpool forward Ryan Kent could be headed back to England from Freiburg for a loan spell.
The Reds wanted the 21-year-old to gain regular first-team playing experience at the Bundesliga side, but he’s only started a league game and there is a high chance of him returning to England.
Kent spent last season on loan with Barnsley, and Leeds were keen on having him for the new season.
Having become unhappy with his lack of playing minutes in Germany, Liverpool are now likely to allow him return to the Championship for the remainder of the campaign.
Despite having a handful of attacking options, Leeds can do with more legs during the fixtures-packed second half of the season, and in Kent, they could land a fine option.
Having played 44 league games last term, the highly-rated Anfield product sure has some level of experience playing at the level.
Being able to play across the forwardline, Kent’s versatility could come really handy for Leeds.
While it’s almost certain Liverpool will recall their man, that the Whites will likely have competition for the youngster could make landing him tough.
Sheffield United and Middlesbrough were also interested in Kent during the summer, and alongside some other suitors, they could challenge Leeds for his services in January should they rekindle interest.
