Martin Keown pinpoints exactly why Tottenham lost against Arsenal

Martin Keown has claimed that Tottenham were guilty of complacency during their Premier League game against Arsenal last weekend.

The Lilywhites ended up losing 2-0 to the Gunners in the North London derby.

The result would have been very disappointing especially as they have arguably been the better side of the North London rivals during recent years.

It was Mauricio Pochettino’s men who entered the game as favorites but ended up losing to Arsenal who did churn out a quality performance on the day.

Spurs however did respond well to the defeat by beating Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League this week to book their place in the last 16 of Europe’s Premier club competition.

“It’s nothing short of what I would expect,” Keown wrote in The Daily Mail regarding Tottenham’s win against Dortmund after the defeat to Arsenal. “All they’re guilty of is complacency.

“They’re young players. They had a couple of weeks over the international break where they could soak up the praise.

“You’re basking in the sun of everyone wanting to write nice things about you. You can sometimes fall into a trap. That’s perhaps what they were guilty of.”
