Tigres’ Home Dominance Should Be Enough To Get Past Leon In Second Leg

This Saturday, we will know two out of the four semifinalists in the Liga MX Apertura 2017 including the winner out of the Tigres UANL vs Leon matchup. The First leg ended in a 1-1 draw at Leon’s Nou Camp but this match should be a bit different considering it will be played at the Estadio Universitario.

Tigres UANL was one of the best if not the best home team during the regular season of the Apertura 2017 and this should stay consistent in the playoffs. Los Felinos were undefeated in eight home games with seven wins and one draw.

Ricardo Ferretti’s men outscored their opponents 17-3 and maintained six clean sheets throughout those eight home fixtures. Enner Valencia contributed the most to those 17 goals with six of his own in front of the home crowd.

The lone draw came in week 3 of the competition against Queretaro and the biggest win was a 5-0 thrashing against Puebla in week 1. The most impressive win at home was arguably a 3-0 win against a solid Toluca side in week 14 of the Apertura.

The first leg does heavily favor Tigres UANL even if it did end in a 1-1 draw as the team from Nuevo Leon can keep a scoreless draw and advance to the semifinals. A 1-1 draw would also do the trick along with a win by any margin, which should be very probable in front of over 40 thousand fans at the Estadio Universitario.
