It’s widely believed Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will be interested in returning to the Premier League sometime in the near future.
The former Liverpool boss has built a solid reputation for himself with his work with the Hoops, and despite the likes of Everton and West Brom looking for a manager, the Northern Irishman hasn’t been linked with the jobs.
Rodgers will be keener on another top EPL job, and former Celtic star Andy Walker believes a chance to work with Chelsea might be too good for him to turn down.
The 44-year-old was once the Blues head youth coach before later becoming reserve team manager.
Rodgers has since made a name for himself, managing Watford, Reading, Swansea and the Reds.
While admitting that the Hoops boss will remain at Parkhead for a little longer, Walker claimed a future move to Stamford Bridge could be on the cards.
He said thus on talkSport: “I think it would be interesting. Chelsea is obviously a big one for him, because he’s got a connection there but he does seem happy and content with life in Glasgow – he seems committed to Celtic.
“You look at the number of jobs that have come up in the Premier League – West Ham, Everton, Leicester, Palace, West Brom.
“All these jobs have been available but there’s been no word at all of Brendan Rodgers wanting to go back into that environment.
“But Chelsea might be different because of his earlier association.”
Chelsea, under current owner Roman Abrahamovich, made sacking managers with reckless abandon popular in the Premier League, and it is highly unlikely that Rodgers will be willing to take up an offer from the Blues given his dislike for the league’s sacking culture.
