Legend makes a bold claim about Arsenal’s potential finish in the EPL

Ray Parlour has predicted that Arsenal can finish in the top two in the Premier League this season if they continue to play like how they did against Tottenham last week. Arsene Wenger’s men managed to secure a 2-0 win against their North London rivals last weekend.

The Gunners have however been inconsistent in terms of their performances and last season marked the first time under Wenger that they finished outside the top four and failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Arsenal are currently in sixth place on the Premier League standings though they are just one point adrift of fourth placed Spurs.

“I just thought all-round they looked like they wanted it more, and I haven’t seen that a lot from Arsenal in certain games, especially in the bigger games,” the legend told talkSPORT.

“They were sharper, their high intensity runs were unbelievable, the defending was excellent and they got the goals at the right times.

“The closing down was superb. That’s the first time I’ve seen the front three [do that]. Usually only one or two of them will close down, but all them did it – even Ozil.

“Ozil really played well. The shift he put in, I haven’t seen that from him this season. We talk about big players and him needing to turn up in big games, and he was man-of-the-match against Tottenham.

“The high intensity of the game was there for Arsenal and they’ve got to push that on. The question for me is, can they do that every week now?

“If they can play like this week-in-week out, they’ll be very close to being in the top two or top three this season. There was something very different about that team at the weekend, we saw a little bit more desire and little more belief in the side to win the game.”
