Rodgers raves about the selection headache and quality depth impressive duo gives him

Celtic have been impressive on the domestic front this term, extending their unbeaten streak to 64 games ahead of Sunday’s Scottish League Cup final against Motherwell.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is currently satisfied with the striking options at his disposal, and he’s relishing the fact that the duo of Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths has returned to full fitness.

With their different skill sets, Celtic are boosted by the fact that Rodgers can choose to deploy different types of formations.

Griffiths, who just returned from a calf knock, helped fire the Hoops to victory at the weekend with a stunning freekick that delivered all 3 points against Ross County.

The Scotland international and Dembele are now left to split playing minutes between themselves, and Rodgers claims he wouldn’t want anything less than that.

According to the Northern Irishman: “It is perfect. We wouldn’t want it any other way.

“When you are a manager you need that competition, two players who have different qualities.

“I know if I play one I will get a certain type of game than when I play the other but what I can get from both is goals.

“Leigh has shown his qualities in the Champions League qualification already and away in Anderlecht when he scored his goal (in the 3-0 win).

“Moussa showed it last season and will want to show it this season as well so both players are very important.

“I have a young player on loan from Paris St Germain who has hardly featured, Odsonne Edouard, which is unfortunate for him because he has been working very hard and very well in training but – because of the performance level of the two other players – it has been difficult for him.”

Celtic can clinch their first prize of the campaign with victory over Well come weekend, and in his 2 lethal striking options, Rodgers can be rest assured of victory regardless of whoever he chooses to start.
