West Ham manager David Moyes was hardly surprised by the way in which his side played during their 2-0 defeat against Watford on Sunday

Will Hughes and Richarlison scored on the day to secure a comfortable win for the Hornets.

It was certainly not a day to remember for Moyes, who was making his 500th managerial appearance in the Premier League having previously managed the likes of Manchester United, Everton and Sunderland.

Despite the poor level of performances recently, Moyes insists that the East London club are capable of turning around their current situation and avoiding the drop this season.

He said: “Most people would have expected something like that, because that’s what it’s been before. I was disappointed that we didn’t do better, but we missed a couple of big chances – one at 1-0, we missed a couple just before half-time as well.

“The better team won the game – don’t let me say different than that – but there was a chance to change the outcome of the game and we didn’t do it. We’re going to have to improve.”
