Everton, West Ham and Newcastle keen on wantaway EPL striker in January

Slimani

According to Algerian news outlet Le Buteur, Leicester City striker Islam Slimani is a target of Premier League trio Everton, West Ham and Newcastle ahead of the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old was keen on leaving the King Power Stadium during the summer but no deal could be agreed.

However, a permanent exit by winter appears to be on the cards for the Algeria international having failed to establish himself as a regular name on Leicester’s teamsheet.

The former Sporting Lisbon striker is also wanted by Crystal Palace and Watford, while Ligue 1 Rennes have registered interest.

Slimani has started just a Premier League game this term, coming on in 6 others with just an assist to his name.

Nevertheless, teams are willing to take a gamble on him considering he bagged 27 goals in 33 Primeira Liga just 2 campaigns ago.

The Toffees reckon the Algerian can help them replace Romelu Lukaku’s goals to an extent, while both the Hammers and Magpies have strikers struggling in front of goal, with Javier Hernandez and Joselu managing just 4 and 2 goals respectively.

Having acquired Slimani’s services for a club record £28million 2 summers ago, Leicester City will be willing to recoup most of the transfer fees in the eventuality of a sale, and the highest bidder will most likely come out tops of the battle for his signature.
