Leeds United managing director speaks on the Whites’ chances this season

Leeds United managing director Angus Kinnear has backed the club to secure a top six finish under Thomas Christiansen this season despite their recent slump in form.

The Whites made a strong start to the Championship season and occupied first position during the month of September.

However after experiencing several defeats during their last 10 matches, they have since slipped to tenth position on the standings.

The Whites were aiming to challenge for promotion at the start of the season and so the pressure will be on Christiansen to ensure that the club finishes in the top six at the end of the season. Kinnear does believe that Christiansen is the right man to lead the club forward.

“I don’t think it is fair to question him,” said the club’s managing director. “Most supporters, fair-minded supporters, would look at a manager coming into a completely new league – a very challenging league, and working with a new squad with new players – and to be three points off the play-offs now is not far off what you would expect a new manager to do.

“In what we have seen at Thorp Arch and in a number of performances, there’s plenty to suggest that Thomas has absolutely the potential to deliver in this league.”
