Former Tottenham midfielder Gus Poyet has said that his former club are now better than their North London rivals.
Last season marked the first time in the Premier League era that Spurs went on to finish above Arsenal in the Premier League era as they finished off in second place while Arsenal finished a disappointing 5th and outside the top four for the first time since Arsene Wenger took charge of the club.
Spurs are set to face off against Arsenal in the North London derby on Saturday. Considering recent form and confidence at the moment, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will go into the game as favorites.
Ahead of the clash, Poyet said: “It was difficult because I was part of a Spurs team that couldn’t get past Arsenal for whatever reason.
“And this Tottenham team achieved that and I think they are going to maintain it this year. Reasons – definitely Tottenham will do better, no doubt about that. Holding their best players as well will help that a lot.”
