West Ham to battle Newcastle in the race to quality English attacker

According to reports, West Ham are set to battle Newcastle United in the race to sign Danny Ings from Liverpool.

Ings arrived at Anfield in 2015 whilst Brendan Rodgers was still manager of the club and has seen his time at the Reds blighted by injuries.

He currently appears to be surplus to requirements under Jurgen Klopp as he is fully fit but not being selected.  It looks likely that he will end up sealing a move away from the club during the January transfer window.

New West Ham boss David Moyes is looking for a new forward to help rescue his side who face the risk of relegation and could turn to Ings.

Moyes also previously did try to sign Ings while he served as manager of Real Sociedad and continues to rate the 25 year old highly.

The Hammers could however face competition from Newcastle. The prospect of playing under Rafa Benitez could also be something that appeals to Ings.
