This Monday, November 13, 2017 (11:45 AM Pacific) Poland will host Mexico at the Stadion Energa Gdańsk for an international friendly match. Both Poland and Mexico have very strong squads and should provide an entertaining and contested game.
Poland soared through the UEFA World Cup qualifiers, finishing first in Group E with 25 points and a goal differential of 14. Robert Lewandowski was the clear standout of the team with 16 goals throughout the qualifiers but the Bayern Munich striker will not be available for this match because of a thigh injury.
Manager Adam Nawalka will still have a talented roster to work with featuring players like Napoli’s Piotr Zieliński and Wolfsburg’s Jakub Błaszczykowski. The home-field advantage should also play a role in this game as Mexico is not used to playing matches in the European continent.
Mexico also breezed past its qualifying stage in the CONCACAF region and is now looking to test itself against higher quality opponents. El Tri is coming off an impressive 3-3 draw against Belgium in Brussels and will be looking for a similar performance in this match. PSV Eindhoven Winger Hirving Lozano was the standout player in that match as he scored a brace.
A few key players like Javier Hernandez, Hector Herrera and Edson Alvarez did pick up injuries in that game and will be unavailable for this match. Juan Carlos Osorio is likely to tinker with his lineup anyways and players like Oribe Peralta, Jonathan Dos Santos and Javier Aquino may get the start in this match. The game should be a great test for the CONCACAF team in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, especially away from home.
