Allardyce explains why David Moyes was unlucky at Sunderland

Sam Allardyce has said that Sunderland were destined to get relegated from the Premier League last season and that David Moyes was rather unfortunate to have served as the club’s manager last season.

Big Sam managed to lead the Black Cats to Premier League survival during the 2015/16 season. After he left the club Moyes succeeded him.

The club had a disastrous season last term and were relegated from the Premier League after finishing in last position on the standings.

Many criticized Moyes as he was manager of the Black Cats last season and many West Ham fans were also unhappy when it was announced that he is the man to succeed Slaven Bilic on Tuesday.

Allardyce said to TalkSport as reported by The Chronicle and defended Moyes though by saying: “I know from personal experience it’s a hugely difficult club to manage. Sooner or later it was destined to go down and unfortunately for David, that was on his watch.”
