The Everton board are reportedly split on handing the vacant managers job to Sam Allardyce.
The former England national team manager is currently the favorite to be named as new Toffees manager following the sacking of Ronald Koeman last month.
The Daily Mail have reported that Allardyce met with Everton owner Farhad Moshiri on Sunday but there has been no contact since.
Allardyce has vast experiencing managing in the top flight, however he has a reputation for being only a relegation survival specialist and has never won major silverware.
As the Toffees are an ambitious club who are aiming to challenge for major silverware in the future, this will make him not an ideal option.
Meanwhile Moshiri has reportedly made Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone a very ambitious target. Whether Simeone will be willing to leave Atletico where he is seemingly happy and move to the Merseyside club remains to be seen.
