West Ham United defender Jose Fonte has confirmed that he will be out of action for the rest of the year.
The 33 year old had to be taken off during the Hammers 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace during the 76th minute of the game and was replaced by Declan Rice. It has now been confirmed that he will be out for the rest of the year.
Speaking ahead of his sides game against Liverpool on Saturday, Fonte said: “Difficult to digest… but with my mind already focused on a quick recovery!
“I will be back stronger in two or three months. I look forward to the grind! Big win tomorrow would definitely hope.”
The Euro 2016 winner Fonte is one of the most experienced and talented defenders in the Hammers squad and there is no doubt that this news will come as a blow to them.
