£2.5million reportedly could see Newcastle lose 31-goals-in-58-games striking target

As per Turkish outlet Aksam, Newcastle have offered £17.5million for Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun ahead of a January swoop, but the club’s President Fikrit Orman is holding out for £20million for his most-prized asset.

Crystal Palace and Tottenham are also keen on the 26-year-old lethal finisher, and could pip the Magpies to his signature should they meet Besiktas’ demands.

Tosun has been in explosive form in front of goal since last term, finding the back of the net 7 times in 11 games this season having registered 24 strikes in 47 games last term.

Newcastle have lacked quality in the final third this term, scoring just 10 Premier League goals, with only half coming from the forwards.

Finishing in the top half of the log will only be made possible by adding a proven goalscorer in January, and Tosun fits the bill perfectly.

However, failure to part with £2.5million could stand in their way of landing the Turkey international, and they might get to rue missing out on him in the end.
