According to a report published by The Daily Star, Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has demanded that his club sign Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.
The Catalan giants earmarked Coutinho as a priority target during the summer and had three bids rejected for him.
It does appear to be highly possible that they will once again attempt to sign him in January. Messi reportedly wants Coutinho to join the Spanish giants as he feels that the Brazilian is an ideal long-term replacement for the aging Andreas Iniesta.
According to the report, Barcelona and Liverpool are already involved in talks over the sale of Coutinho. The player’s agent Kia Joorabchian is said to have informed Barca that the Reds are willing to part ways with their prized asset for a fee of £134 million when the transfer window reopens.
Liverpool’s current form will also be doing nothing to convince Coutinho to stay at the club. He may feel that he will have better opportunities to win trophies with Barcelona.
