Sunderland manager Simon Grayson has revealed that he will have a sizable budget to bring in new players to his squad during the January transfer window.
The Black Cats are struggling in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last season and occupy 23rd position on the standings with 9 points from 14 games.
At the rate that they are going, they could be headed for back to back relegations. The club will be expected to make new signings during the January transfer window in order to improve their current situation.
Nonetheless, Grayson expects to have himself a sizable budget by saying, “It’s all about planning for the future and what we need to do. We don’t want to be having meetings in the middle of December about who is available and targets.
“The bottom line is that we want to try to improve the squad. We will also do that with the players we have here because we have a good group with quality when all are available.
“Are there funds available? Time will tell in terms of how much, but I think we’ve got a reasonable budget to deal with.”
