This Saturday, October 28, 2017 (3:00 PM Pacific) Queretaro will host Atlas at the Estadio Corregidora for a game in the 15th round of matches in the Liga MX Apertura 2017. Both teams are in the contested relegation race this season and will fight for the coveted three points from the game.
Queretaro has been a disappointing team in this Apertura 2017, currently in 17th place with only 11 points, with no hopes of making the playoffs. The team is undergoing a transitional phase, having relieved Jaime Lozano of his duties and also some members of the front office as well. Luis Fernando Tena has now taken over as the manager of the team and it will be interesting to see what results he can get in these last three games heading into the next tournament.
Los Gallos Blancos arguably have the best keeper in the league in Tiago Volpi and have a decent striker in Camilo Sanvezzo, who now has seven goals in this tournament. Changes will need to be made in the next offseason to improve the team but Tena will have to work with what he has at his disposal for now.
Atlas at one point looked like a team that would have no hopes of making the playoffs but is currently sitting in ninth place with 19 points. Los Rojinegros have won four of their last five games, recently coming off an impressive 1-0 home win against Club Tijuana.
Jose Guadalupe Cruz counts with a very talented squad featuring players like Matias Alustiza, Milton Caraglio and Ravel Morrison. The English midfielder, Morrison looks to be finally adapting to the league and is coming off a strong performance against the Xolos. Club captain Rafael Marquez has also been cleared to play after links to a drug trafficking organization and could feature in this game. This is a must-win game for Los Zorros and the three points from the game are highly likely especially coming up against an inconsistent Queretaro side.
